ActiveRemission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products
RoDTEP reimburses embedded central, state and local taxes (electricity duty, VAT on fuel, mandi tax, etc.) that other refund schemes do not cover. Rates are notified per HS-8 code in Appendix 4R (for DTA exports) and Appendix 4RE (for AA and EOU exports).

Common rejection reasons
- ×Declaration field on shipping bill left blank (most common reason).
- ×Product code maps to a negative-list HS code (steel, gold, etc.).
- ×EGM not filed within 7 days of vessel departure.
- ×Shipping bill amended after scrip generation without revision filing.
How to apply
The application route differs by scheme. For RoDTEP, the working sequence is below.
Populate the RoDTEP declaration field on every shipping bill at the time of customs filing. Most ICEGATE filing software requires this field but does not enforce population.
Confirm with your shipping line that the EGM is filed within 7 days of vessel departure. Delays beyond T+7 hold scrip generation.
Track scrip issuance via the DGFT portal. Expected T+30 to T+60. If no scrip after T+45, file an inquiry through your CA.
On scrip issuance, the e-scrip credit is auto-allocated to your DGFT e-scrip wallet. Utilise against customs duty payments or transfer to a buyer.
Reconcile scrip value against expected RoDTEP. Variance > 5 percent should be investigated.
